Our first stop on the around the world tour was California. Lucky for us, my grandmother (Benjamin's great grandmother) lives in San Pedro, California and she let us mess up her household and add lots of noise for a week!

Grandma's home always smells like Croatian cooking and she gave me a simple chicken recipe of Nana's (her mom, my great grandma) that I would like to share with you:

Two chicken breasts with skin

Italian dressing

Tomato sauce

1/2 yellow onion

3-4 carrots

Kosher Salt

Black Pepper

Olive Oil

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Peel carrots and cut in half. Cut onion into large pieces. Line baking dish with aluminum foil and drizzle with olive oil. Add chicken breasts, carrots and onion to the pan. Mix 1/2 cup of Italian dressing and 1/4 cup of tomato sauce in a bowl and drizzle over chicken and carrots. Sprinkle with kosher salt and black pepper to taste. Cover with aluminum foil. Bake in oven for one hour, remove foil top, bake for an additional 30 minutes. Serve!

Grandma also took Benjamin and I to see the Marine Mammal Care Center and the Korean Friendship Bell. I snapped a couple of photos the coast and the bell below.

Benjamin was very excited to attend his first MineCon convention, riddled with famous YouTubers and Minecraft players from around the world. He made a few new friends, met IHASCUPQUAKE and RED15, and danced the night away to Fitz and The Tantrums. What a weekend!

No trip to Southern California with a kiddos under twelve would be complete without a stop at Disneyland. Benjamin discovered his love for rollercoasters on this particular day, and we made EIGHT trips up and down, up and down!

California was a sunny, beautiful, non-stop stop on our world tour. Great way to begin!
